I have been able to start tomcat with startup.sh successfully, and have been able to shut down tomcat with shutdown.sh successfully, so I know tomcat works by itself. Server Tomcat v8.5 Server at localhost failed to start. 'Starting Tomcat v8.5 Server at localhost' has encountered a problem. Some red text in the debug window appear. A dialog box appears and I choose the option to Manually define a new server. In Eclipse IDE for Enterprise Java Developers Version 2019-03(4.11.0), I right-click on my web project and select Debug As->Debug on Server. I want to debug my web app on a local tomcat 8.5 server. I don't recall changing anything before I came back to this project and got this error. I did not have this error when I left off on this project as I recall. The answers seem to be particular to those people's errors, so I gave up on them. Please check below link for more details.I have found other stack overflow questions similar to this one. There are couple of attributes we need to set. The Solution for this is making custom error pages with the help of web.config file.Īt this moment developer can handle how users are shown a better error page by configuring in web.config page. An attacker can list the server directories by studying the different error responses that are thrown by the application server. The presence of hidden directories allows an attacker to gather information regarding the file and directory structure of the application by viewing the '403 Forbidden' server response. The attacker can use this difference in the response to enumerate the application directories and file structure. The server will typically respond with a '404 Not Found' error if a directory does not exist, however if a valid directory exists, the server responds with '403 Forbidden' error. An attacker will try to access multiple directories within the application by guessing their names or launching a brute force attack. Hidden directories were detected by viewing the '403 Forbidden' response from the server. The hidden directory enumeration issue exists when the server responds with a '403 Forbidden' error while trying to access a valid application directory.
